Birmingham, AL – Lingering rain should wind down across Central Alabama on Monday, Oct. 5, before several days of fair fall weather bring highs ranging from the upper 70s to near 90.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, a few showers could linger through early Monday evening, mainly across the southern counties of Central Alabama.
Fair weather is expected from Tuesday through early Friday. Afternoon temperatures during that stretch are expected to reach the upper 70s to near 90, while overnight lows will generally fall into the 50s.
Attention then turns to the western Gulf of Mexico. The NWS said there is a high chance that a tropical depression will develop later this week, although conditions are only marginally favorable for development.
Any eventual effects in Alabama remain uncertain. Forecasters said Monday morning that it is too early to determine what impacts, if any, the developing Gulf system could bring to Central Alabama this weekend.
That distinction is important for residents making weekend plans: the NWS is monitoring a potential tropical system, but specific rainfall, wind or other impacts for Central Alabama have not yet been established.
For now, residents can expect lingering showers to end Monday, followed by generally fair conditions Tuesday through early Friday. Updated forecasts later this week should provide a clearer picture of the Gulf disturbance and whether it will affect Alabama over the weekend.
