Wakefield, VA – Virginia residents can expect cooler temperatures and high rip current risks along the coast this week. Daytime highs will reach the mid to upper 70s under partly cloudy skies, creating a cool atmosphere across the state. Breezy conditions will persist, particularly near the coast.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Wakefield office, a high rip current risk is in place along the Virginia and Maryland coasts. The warning extends through Thursday, with surf heights ranging between 2 to 3 feet in several areas, including Assateague State Park and Virginia Beach. The NWS advises beachgoers to stay cautious, avoid unguarded beaches, and heed posted signs.

The cooler weather will continue into Thursday, with highs remaining in the 70s before climbing back to the 80s by the weekend. A chance of rain could hit on Saturday, but clear skies are forecasted to return by Sunday.
