Hanford, CA – A sweltering 99°F marked the start of Hanford’s heatwave this Thursday as residents brace for an exceptionally hot Labor Day weekend. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures will soar to 100°F or more from Friday through Tuesday, prolonging Central California’s late-summer heat.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), temperatures will trend down slightly on Labor Day but will remain in the upper 90s. Despite the mild dip, the heat will return with intensity as the week progresses. Saturday and Sunday are expected to reach 101°F and 100°F, respectively, while Tuesday could peak again at 101°F.
The NWS warns that above-normal temperatures will persist through the first half of September. There’s a 60-70% probability of continued heat in Central California, meaning the region may experience one of its hottest Labor Day weekends on record. Residents should prepare for extended periods of heat by staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure, and seeking air-conditioned environments whenever possible.
Hanford locals should plan accordingly for outdoor Labor Day celebrations, considering the heat risks throughout the weekend.
