Minneapolis, MN – Dense fog and wildfire smoke are expected to impact Minnesota this week, leading to hazy skies and potential air quality concerns across the state.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Twin Cities and Duluth, the week will begin with dense fog across the Northland, causing reduced visibility during the early morning hours. Residents are advised to use low-beam headlights and exercise caution while driving. The fog is expected to dissipate by mid-morning.
Meanwhile, high-altitude smoke from ongoing wildfires in Canada and the western United States will contribute to hazy skies and vivid sunsets statewide. This smoke is expected to reach the surface, reducing air quality and creating milky, hazy conditions. Temperatures will remain seasonable, with highs ranging from 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
The National Weather Service also forecasts quiet and dry weather for most of the week, with partly cloudy skies and milder temperatures. However, the persistent haze could lead to respiratory issues for sensitive groups, prompting health officials to recommend limiting outdoor activities.
