Wichita, KS – Thunderstorms are expected to intensify across Kansas today, with the highest risk concentrated in the northern, northeastern, and eastern parts of the state. According to the NWS, areas including Emporia, Chanute, and Topeka face the highest likelihood of thunderstorms, with chances ranging from 45% to 56%. The storms may bring quarter-sized hail, wind gusts exceeding 60 mph, and locally heavy rainfall. Residents in these regions are urged to stay weather aware, particularly if they have outdoor plans.
The storm system is expected to affect a broad swath of the state, with cities like Wichita, Salina, and Hutchinson also facing a notable risk, though slightly lower.
