Charleston, WV – Severe weather is expected to impact Charleston and the surrounding areas this weekend as a cold front moves through West Virginia. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston has issued a warning for isolated to scattered strong to severe thunderstorms, particularly on Saturday afternoon and evening. Residents are urged to prepare for potential hazards, including damaging winds, hail, and heavy rainfall.
According to the NWS, the region is under a slight risk for severe weather, with the strongest storms likely to develop ahead of the approaching cold front. The unsettled weather will persist into Sunday, bringing additional rain and cooler temperatures to the area.
Saturday’s high is forecasted to reach 88°F, with a 55% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The storm threat continues into Sunday, with a high of 78°F and a 60% chance of rain. Monday’s forecast shows a continuation of rainy conditions, with temperatures dropping further to a high of 74°F.
Looking ahead, the weather is expected to stabilize by midweek, with sunny skies and highs in the low to mid-70s from Tuesday through Thursday. However, the cool temperatures will remain, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-50s.
