Utah – This weekend, Utah is set to experience significant weather activity as monsoon moisture returns, bringing a threat of strong to severe thunderstorms and flash flooding. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City has issued a warning for Saturday afternoon and evening, predicting that most of Utah and southwestern Wyoming will be affected. Storms are expected to bring gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain.
According to the NWS, the thunderstorms on Saturday could result in flash flooding, particularly in slot canyons, dry washes, and areas near recent burn scars in southern Utah. A flood watch is in effect for southwestern and south-central Utah from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, with the potential for the flood risk to expand into central and southern Utah through Monday.
Temperatures across the state will range from the upper 80s to low 90s over the weekend, with Saturday’s high in Salt Lake City forecasted at 89 degrees. Conditions will remain partly cloudy on Sunday with continued storm risks. The weather is expected to clear by mid-week, with temperatures returning to the 90s and sunshine prevailing. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and take precautions as severe weather and flooding could develop rapidly.
