Salt Lake City, UT – Residents of Salt Lake City should prepare for a wet weekend as monsoon moisture returns to the area on Saturday, bringing with it the risk of flash flooding.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City has issued a warning for Utah and southwest Wyoming, with thunderstorms expected each afternoon from Saturday through Monday.
According to the NWS, these storms will deliver heavy rainfall, significantly increasing the risk of flash flooding in prone areas, including slot canyons, normally dry washes, and regions impacted by recent burn scars.
Flash flooding could pose a significant threat, especially in areas with already dry, unstable ground conditions. Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts are advised to monitor the weather closely and consider altering their plans if necessary. Additionally, drivers should avoid crossing flooded roads to ensure their safety.
