Grand Rapids, MI – Western Michigan is set to face a series of showers and thunderstorms throughout today, with potential for significant weather impacts. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Rapids has issued a forecast indicating two rounds of storms.
According to the NWS, the first round of showers and storms will move through this morning, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and wind gusts up to 50 mph. This initial wave of weather is expected to give way to drier conditions for a brief period in the afternoon and evening.
However, another round of storms is anticipated after midnight, continuing into the early hours of Tuesday. This second round will also feature heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds. Temperatures today will reach into the 80s, while tonight’s lows are forecasted to be in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Residents are advised to stay alert and monitor local weather updates. The main threats from these storms include flash flooding, power outages, and hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility and wet roads.
