Duluth, MN – Northern Minnesota is facing a small risk of severe storms from today through Sunday. Large hail, up to 1.5 inches in diameter, wind gusts reaching 60 mph, and locally heavy rain are the primary threats, with the potential for flash flooding. A few tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
According to the US National Weather Service Duluth, the risk area for today includes regions north and west of a line from the Brainerd Lakes to near Virginia, MN, and near Ely. On Sunday, the risk shifts west of a line from St. Croix Falls, WI, to Bayfield and Grand Portage, MN, encompassing central and north-central Minnesota and the Arrowhead region.
The current forecast for Duluth indicates mostly cloudy skies with a high of 89°F today. On Sunday, there is a 40% chance of rain with temperatures around 87°F. The weather on Monday is expected to worsen, with a 60% chance of rain and a high of 78°F. By Tuesday, skies should clear, bringing sunny conditions and a high of 86°F. Wednesday will see partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching 85°F, while Thursday brings a 35% chance of rain and a high of 82°F.
