Virginia Weather: Cold Front Brings Showers and Thunderstorms

Wakefield, VA – A cold front will drop south through Virginia today, bringing isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms to the southern parts of the state. According to the National Weather Service, the cold front will result in drier conditions from central Virginia to the Eastern Shore.

High pressure building north of the area will ensure pleasant weather for late July. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-80s to near 90 on Saturday and Sunday. Morning lows will mainly be in the 60s away from the coast, with a few locations in the Piedmont possibly dropping into the upper 50s.

Today’s forecast includes highs of 84°F in Farmville, 88°F in Louisa, and 81°F in Norfolk, with scattered showers expected mainly in the southern regions such as Emporia and Windsor.

The weekend promises partly sunny skies with highs of 87°F on Saturday and 89°F on Sunday, offering a reprieve from today’s scattered thunderstorms.

Looking ahead to next week, temperatures will hover around 90°F on Monday with a mix of sun and clouds. Tuesday and Wednesday will see highs of 84°F and 87°F respectively, with partly cloudy skies. Rain is expected to return on Thursday with a 35% chance of showers and highs around 91°F.
