Teen Allegedly Sets Fire to Villa Park’s Jefferson Pool

Villa Park, IL – A fifteen-year-old male has been charged with multiple felonies, including arson and burglary, after allegedly breaking into Jefferson Pool and setting fire to a desk on July 24, 2024.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin stated that the juvenile was caught on surveillance footage breaking a window to enter the facility. Police found him hiding in a bathroom stall, equipped with a lighter and various tools. The fire caused damage to a desk, computer keyboard, and carpet.

Villa Park Police Chief Michael Rivas emphasized the severity of the crime and praised the quick response of the police and fire departments. The juvenile’s next court date is July 29, 2024.
