Will County, IL – Overnight lane and ramp closures are scheduled to take place on westbound I-80 between Richards St. and U.S. 30 tonight, weather permitting. The closures are necessary to facilitate a work zone stage change, according to I-80 Will.

According to I-80 Will, the schedule for Thursday, July 18 is as follows:

• At 9 PM, westbound I-80 will be reduced to one lane between U.S. 30 and Richards St. Additionally, the westbound I-80 ramps at Briggs St. will be closed.
• At 5 AM, all lanes and ramps will reopen with a new traffic pattern in place.

In the new configuration, there will continue to be two lanes in each direction with all ramps open. The new configuration allows ongoing work on the mainline lanes and is anticipated to last through the end of the year.

Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays and to use alternative routes if possible. The Illinois Department of Transportation encourages drivers to stay alert and follow posted signs and signals in the construction zone.

These closures are part of a larger effort to improve road safety and infrastructure in the area. For updates and additional information, residents can follow I-80 Will on social media or visit their official website.
