South Bend, IN – The National Weather Service has issued Tornado Watch, effective until 2 a.m. EDT / 1 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, covering parts of northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan. The alert spans eight counties in Indiana and two in Michigan, including St. Joseph, La Porte, and Berrien.
According to the National Weather Service, areas impacted include major cities such as South Bend, Mishawaka, Michigan City, and Benton Harbor. Residents in these regions should be vigilant and prepared to take shelter if a tornado warning is issued. The tornado watch is a precautionary measure indicating that conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather, including tornadoes.
The affected counties in Indiana are St. Joseph, Cass, Fulton, La Porte, Marshall, Pulaski, Starke, and White. In Michigan, Berrien and Cass counties are under the watch. This includes cities such as Akron, Logansport, Niles, and St. Joseph.
