Kansas City Braces for Severe Thunderstorms with Large Hail, Isolated Tornadoes

Kansas City, MO – Kansas City is preparing for severe thunderstorms expected to hit the area this evening, bringing with them the risk of large hail and isolated tornadoes. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an enhanced risk warning for northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas, effective from 4 PM today and continuing into the night.

According to the NWS, the storms are predicted to develop after 4 PM, with the highest intensity expected between 4 PM and 9 PM. These storms could produce wind gusts between 60 to 70 mph and hail up to the size of half dollars. There is also a potential for isolated tornadoes and flash flooding, adding to the urgency of the warning.

Residents are advised to stay updated on the weather situation and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The NWS recommends securing outdoor objects, staying indoors during the storms, and having a safety plan in place in case of tornado warnings.
