Quad Cities, IA/IL – Severe thunderstorms are expected to sweep through eastern Iowa into the Quad Cities area tonight, bringing the risk of tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds. The National Weather Service has issued a warning for these potentially hazardous conditions, predicting the storms will arrive between 7 and 10 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, the storms are currently developing in central Iowa and will intensify as they move east. Residents should be prepared for the possibility of tornadoes, with a few expected to form as the storms progress. Large hail, capable of causing significant damage, and winds strong enough to down trees and power lines are also anticipated.

A flood watch is in effect from 3 p.m. today until early Wednesday morning, as torrential rains may lead to flash flooding. Areas prone to repeated rounds of heavy rain, particularly those near the Mississippi River, are at the highest risk.

Residents are advised to stay indoors and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings. With the severe weather expected to impact evening activities, planning ahead is crucial. Stay informed and prioritize safety as the storms approach.
