Chicago, IL – Showers and thunderstorms are expected today across parts of northern Illinois, primarily from late morning through early afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Chicago reports that additional scattered thunderstorms may occur in the evening, especially northwest of I-55. Some of these storms could be severe, with the potential for localized flash flooding. According to the National Weather Service, the most intense storms are likely to develop in certain areas, and residents in these regions should be prepared for strong winds, heavy rainfall, and the possibility of hail. The risk of flash flooding is particularly concerning for low-lying and poorly drained areas.

The weather pattern is expected to remain unsettled into Tuesday afternoon and through Wednesday morning, with more storms anticipated during this period. These storms will bring increased humidity and temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s. By Wednesday afternoon, conditions are forecasted to improve as drier air moves into the region.
