Iowa Severe Storm Alert: Flash Flood Watch in Effect Overnight

Des Moines, IA – Severe storms are expected this evening across Iowa, with primary threats including damaging winds, large hail, and potential flash flooding. Although the tornado risk is low, it remains possible.

According to the US National Weather Service Des Moines, storms are likely to become widespread overnight, bringing heavy rainfall that could cause flash flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect from 1 a.m. Tuesday through Tuesday evening. River levels may rise above flood stage in some areas over the coming days. Residents are advised to have multiple ways to receive warnings and to take necessary precautions.
