Indianapolis, IN – The 2024 Corvette E-Ray 3LZ coupe was unveiled as the official pace car for the 108th running of the Indianapolis 500, setting a new standard in performance as the first electrified Corvette to lead the race. Announced by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Wednesday, the E-Ray is set to guide drivers during the opening lap and throughout any yellow flag events this season.

According to Scott Bell, global Chevrolet vice president, the E-Ray exemplifies Chevrolet’s commitment to “competition and performance-oriented, cutting-edge technology,” making it an ideal choice for this significant motorsport event. The vehicle features a unique all-wheel drive system powered by electric propulsion alongside a traditional V-8 engine, achieving remarkable acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds.

IMS President J. Douglas Boles also highlighted the Corvette E-Ray’s record-breaking potential and its role in demonstrating how innovations tested on the track can transition to consumer vehicles. This year marks the 35th occasion a Chevrolet car has been selected as the pace car for the iconic race.
