Madison, WI – The Wisconsin Emergency Management has scheduled a statewide tornado drill for April 11th at 1:45 pm and 6:45 pm.

Residents are encouraged to use this time to discuss and practice their tornado and severe weather safety and sheltering plans. Although the weather forecast suggests overcast skies with rain and potential thunderstorms, severe storms are not expected.

The drills will include tests on NOAA Weather Radios and alerts on some television and radio stations, complemented by social media posts to raise awareness. However, the drill will not trigger Wireless Emergency Alerts or push notifications on phones, and there will be no actual Tornado Watch or Warning issued. The community’s participation in these drills is crucial for ensuring preparedness in the event of real severe weather emergencies.
