Joliet, IL – Starting tonight, travelers along I-80 near River Road in Shorewood will experience overnight lane closures, as announced on social media.
According to the post, these closures are part of a safety initiative to dismantle an existing bridge structure. Eastbound traffic will face disruptions on Monday and Tuesday from 8 PM to 5 AM, while westbound lanes will close on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 PM to 6 AM.
The Illinois Department of Transportation expects the work to be finished by 6 AM on Friday, with motorists advised to expect lane shifts and potential delays. Drivers are recommended to allow additional travel time or seek alternate routes during these periods.
