Memphis, TN – Fire danger is expected to increase across the Mid-South this weekend as dry conditions, low humidity, and gusty winds combine to create an वातावरण favorable for rapid fire spread.
The National Weather Service in Memphis reports that minimum relative humidity levels will drop into the 25–35% range through Sunday, while a prolonged lack of rainfall continues to dry out vegetation. These dry fuels make it easier for fires to ignite and spread quickly.
Winds will also play a key role, especially on Sunday, when elevated gusts could accelerate fire growth and make containment more difficult. Areas across west Tennessee, north Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas—including Memphis, Jackson, Jonesboro, and Tupelo—are all at increased risk.
Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarettes, and use caution with equipment that could spark a fire.
Conditions may improve next week, but until then, staying alert and minimizing fire risks will be critical.
