Fort Wayne, Indiana – Steady rain is creating slick roads across northern Indiana this morning, with the heaviest impacts hitting the early commute before conditions improve later this afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, rainfall will overspread the region through the morning hours, with totals between 0.25 and 0.50 inches expected. The rain will gradually taper from northwest to southeast between late morning and mid-afternoon, with many areas drying out before 3 p.m.
Cities including South Bend, Fort Wayne, and Elkhart are seeing widespread wet conditions early, with reduced visibility and ponding possible on roads like I-69, I-80/90, and U.S. 30.
Skies will clear tonight as drier air moves in, dropping temperatures into the low to mid-30s. This could lead to chilly conditions for the Saturday morning start, though no freezing precipitation is expected.
A warmer trend returns over the weekend, with highs climbing into the upper 50s Saturday and into the 70s by Sunday. Another round of showers is possible Sunday night, and additional updates may follow as that system develops.
