Calhoun County, MI Crime: Gunfire Strikes Home With 3 Inside

Springfield, MI – Authorities are searching for a suspect after multiple gunshots were fired into a Springfield home Sunday night while three adults were inside, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded around 10:38 p.m. Sunday to the 800 block of West Michigan Avenue in Springfield, Calhoun County, following a report of shots fired.

Investigators learned that an unknown individual allegedly drove past the residence and fired multiple rounds into the home. Two adult men and one adult woman were inside at the time.

Deputies said multiple rounds struck and penetrated the residence. A vehicle parked in the driveway was also hit by gunfire.

No injuries were reported. Authorities said the three occupants were able to move to a safe location immediately following the shooting.

Deputies processed the scene and canvassed the surrounding neighborhood for potential suspects, but no one was located. Several pieces of evidence were collected and will be sent to the Michigan State Police laboratory for further analysis, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators are also searching for surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses as they work to identify the person or people responsible.

The shooting remains under investigation. Springfield is in Calhoun County, near Battle Creek in southern Michigan.
