Essex, MD – Baltimore County Police are renewing their call for information in the unsolved killing of 20-year-old Tynell Dorsey, who was found fatally shot on a sidewalk in Essex nearly 25 years ago.
According to the Baltimore County Police Department, an officer was patrolling Mars Road at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Aug. 8, 2001, when a resident flagged down the officer and reported an injured person nearby.
Officers responded and discovered Dorsey lying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, residents told detectives that several people had heard a single gunshot approximately two hours before Dorsey was discovered, police said.
Dorsey had previously lived in California and was known by the nickname “Cali.” Police are highlighting those details as they seek information that could help detectives determine what happened and identify whoever was responsible for his death.
Authorities are urging anyone who remembers Dorsey, was in the Essex area that night or has information related to the killing to contact investigators. Police emphasized that even seemingly minor details could help detectives solve the case.
