Corpus Christi, Texas – South Texas remains locked in a dangerous stretch of summer heat as temperatures climb above 100 degrees across inland communities Friday, with heat index values reaching 105 to 109 degrees and isolated locations briefly approaching 112 degrees. The combination of extreme heat and humidity will create hazardous conditions across the Coastal Bend and Brush Country through the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, inland communities will experience the hottest conditions, with highs around 106 degrees in Cotulla and Tilden, 105 degrees in Freer, 101 degrees in Alice, and 100 degrees in Beeville. Along the coast, temperatures will remain lower, including 91 degrees in Corpus Christi, 92 degrees in Rockport, 90 degrees in Port Lavaca, and 98 degrees in Victoria, but humidity will still push heat index values well above 100 degrees.

The hot pattern will continue through next week with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. Rain chances remain limited, with only a 15% to 20% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. Most communities will stay dry as daytime highs continue ranging from the lower 90s along the coast to 108 degrees inland.

Anyone spending time outdoors should drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing, take frequent breaks in air-conditioned spaces and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the afternoon. Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles, where temperatures can become life-threatening within minutes.

While no widespread rainfall is expected, residents should continue monitoring forecasts as isolated storms could briefly develop Sunday. Otherwise, the prolonged heat will remain the dominant weather story across South Texas into the middle of next week.
