Nashville, Tennessee – Middle Tennessee residents have one more day to enjoy lower humidity before a much wetter weather pattern returns this weekend, bringing widespread showers, thunderstorms and the potential for locally heavy rainfall beginning Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, dry and more comfortable conditions will continue through Friday, but rain chances will increase sharply on Saturday, when storm coverage is expected to reach 80% to 90% across much of the region. Forecasters have also placed Middle Tennessee under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe thunderstorms on Saturday, although heavy rainfall and localized flooding are expected to be the primary concerns.
Communities including Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Columbia, Cookeville and surrounding areas could see multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms through the weekend. While the overall flooding threat remains low at this time, repeated downpours may cause water to collect on roads, especially in low-lying and poor-drainage locations.
High temperatures will remain seasonable, reaching the mid-80s to lower 90s through Friday before cooling into the upper 70s and 80s over the weekend as clouds and rain become more widespread. Residents with outdoor plans should monitor the forecast closely and be prepared to move activities indoors if thunderstorms develop.
Additional rounds of scattered showers and storms are expected to continue into early next week, with daily rain chances remaining between 40% and 60% through Tuesday before gradually easing by Wednesday.
