Baltimore, Maryland – After weeks of oppressive summer heat, residents across Maryland, northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C., metro area will enjoy another day of comfortable temperatures, low humidity and plenty of sunshine, making it one of the more pleasant stretches of weather this summer.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, dry conditions will continue through Thursday and Friday as a refreshing air mass remains in place across the Mid-Atlantic. Afternoon highs will climb into the upper 70s and middle 80s across urban and Chesapeake Bay communities, while mountain locations remain cooler with highs generally in the low 70s to upper 70s.
A light north wind of 10 to 15 mph, with occasional gusts between 20 and 25 mph, will create breezy conditions through much of the afternoon before winds gradually diminish heading into Friday. The combination of sunshine and lower humidity will provide favorable conditions for outdoor activities, travel and recreation across Baltimore, Washington, Frederick, Hagerstown, Charlottesville and surrounding communities.
Morning temperatures started in the mid-60s to upper 70s across the region, with comfortable overnight lows expected again tonight. The dry air will also help improve visibility and reduce the muggy conditions that have dominated much of July.
Quiet weather is expected to continue into Friday, with no significant weather hazards anticipated. Residents should still stay hydrated if spending extended time outdoors, but the lower humidity and seasonable temperatures will make for a welcome break before the next pattern change develops later in the weekend.
