Brief downpours could reduce visibility, while isolated thunderstorms may produce gusty winds and dangerous lightning. If you’re commuting during the afternoon or evening, allow extra travel time and avoid driving through water-covered roads.
Tuesday brings the highest confidence for widespread rainfall. Forecast guidance calls for a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall amounts generally between one-half and three-quarters of an inch, although locally higher totals are possible beneath stronger storms. While widespread severe weather is not currently expected, a few storms could still produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, and localized ponding on streets.
By Wednesday, the pattern begins improving. High temperatures remain seasonably warm near 86 degrees, but rain coverage decreases to around 40% during the afternoon before sunshine becomes more dominant later in the week. Thursday and Friday look considerably quieter, featuring mostly sunny skies and highs in the middle to upper 80s.
