Apple Creek, Ohio – A brief but damaging tornado touched down late Tuesday night in Wayne County, snapping trees and damaging property in the Apple Creek area.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, the tornado was rated EF-0 with estimated peak winds of 85 mph. The storm occurred at 9:56 p.m. EDT and carved a short path of about 0.11 miles with a maximum width of 75 yards.
Damage was concentrated along Buss Road and South Honeytown Road, where numerous trees were snapped or uprooted. Officials also reported structural damage, including impacts to a carport. Photos from the scene show downed trees and debris scattered across residential properties.
Despite the damage, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The tornado developed as part of a line of strong storms moving through northeast Ohio Tuesday night, highlighting the risk of quick spin-up tornadoes even in lower-end severe weather setups.
Cleanup efforts are underway, and residents are urged to remain cautious around downed trees and debris. Additional storm assessments could follow if more damage reports are confirmed.
