Duluth, Minnesota – Meteorologists are asking residents across northeastern Minnesota to report storm damage after severe thunderstorms swept through parts of the Arrowhead Monday morning, including areas near Grand Marais where forecasters are investigating reports of significant impacts.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, officials are seeking storm reports from Monday morning, particularly within an area stretching from Schroeder and Tofte to Grand Marais and Grand Portage. The agency is especially interested in reports of large hail, damaging winds and possible tornado damage to help determine the intensity and path of the storms.
The request focuses on portions of Cook County along and north of Highway 61, where severe weather may have caused localized damage. Reports from residents can help meteorologists confirm what occurred on the ground and improve future warning accuracy.
Anyone who experienced storm impacts is encouraged to include what was observed, when it happened and the exact location. Photos of hail, downed trees, structural damage or other storm-related impacts are especially valuable. Residents should continue to use caution around damaged trees, downed power lines and debris until affected areas can be inspected. The National Weather Service will continue reviewing incoming reports and may conduct additional storm surveys if evidence suggests tornado damage occurred.
