Davenport, Iowa – Drivers across the Quad Cities should prepare for repeated rounds of thunderstorms that could bring periods of heavy rain and localized flooding starting Wednesday and lasting into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, multiple low pressure systems will move through the region, triggering waves of storms through at least Saturday. The heaviest rainfall is expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with another surge of storms arriving Friday afternoon into Saturday.
Communities along and south of Highway 30, including Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, and Rock Island, face a higher likelihood of frequent storms and heavier rainfall. Roads such as I-74, I-80, and U.S. 61 may experience ponding water and reduced visibility during heavier downpours, especially during peak travel periods.
Temperatures will fluctuate through the week, dropping into the 40s and 50s midweek before warming back into the 60s and 70s by Friday ahead of the next storm system.
Residents should monitor forecasts closely, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and prepare for changing conditions with each round of storms. The active pattern will continue into the weekend, with additional advisories possible as rainfall totals increase.
