Fort Worth, Texas – North and Central Texas are heading back into a hot, dry summer pattern, with temperatures climbing steadily through the weekend before triple-digit heat returns to parts of the region by Tuesday. Rain chances will be minimal, allowing the heat to become the dominant weather story into the middle of next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, near- to above-normal temperatures will spread across the region through Wednesday, accompanied by triple-digit heat index values and little to no chance for rainfall. The combination of heat and humidity will increase the risk of heat-related illnesses during the afternoon and early evening hours.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is forecast to warm from 94 degrees Saturday to 97 degrees Sunday, 99 degrees Monday, and 102 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday. Farther south, Waco, Temple and Killeen are expected to reach 92 degrees Saturday, rising to 98 degrees by Wednesday. Across Sherman and Denison, highs climb from 94 degrees Saturday to 101 degrees Tuesday before easing slightly to 100 degrees Wednesday.

With dry weather expected to persist, residents planning outdoor work or recreation should stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, use sunscreen and take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned locations. The hottest part of the day will be during the afternoon, when prolonged exposure can quickly lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
