Champaign, IL – Champaign police are asking for the public’s assistance as detectives investigate an early Friday morning shooting that left a local man injured.
According to the Champaign Police Department, officers are investigating a shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, July 17. Investigators said the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being established.
Police said the limited information available indicates the victim was walking at an unknown location along either Colleen Drive or Staley Road when he heard a loud noise and realized he had been shot.
The injured man later transported himself to a local hospital for treatment, according to police. Officials have not released information about the severity of his injuries.
Investigators said they have not identified a suspect, and no information has been determined regarding the person or persons responsible for the gunfire.
