
Plainfield, IL – A 16-year-old boy remains hospitalized after being shot Thursday evening in Plainfield, and police say detectives have identified an 18-year-old man as a suspect while the investigation continues.
According to the Plainfield Police Department, officers responded at approximately 8:51 p.m. to the 24100 block of Main Street after receiving a report of a person who had been shot.
The teenage victim was taken by private vehicle to Plainfield Fire Protection District Station 1, where firefighters and paramedics provided emergency medical care before transporting him to Rush Copley Hospital. Authorities said he was later transferred to Loyola University Medical Center for additional treatment. His current condition has not been released.
During the ongoing investigation, detectives identified an 18-year-old male as a suspect. With assistance from the Joliet Police Department Special Operations Squad, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the 24100 block of Main Street.
Police said investigators believe the shooting was a targeted incident and that there is no indication of an ongoing threat or enhanced danger to the public at this time.
No one has been taken into custody, and the investigation remains active. Because no charges have been announced, police have not publicly identified the suspect.
