Wilmington, IL – Two people are facing multiple felony charges following a months-long narcotics investigation in Wilmington that authorities say uncovered the alleged sale of several illegal drugs.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, the investigation began in May 2026 after officers received information about suspected drug activity in the 300 block of North First Street. Wilmington detectives partnered with the Joliet Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad (JMANS) to investigate the allegations.
Police said investigators corroborated the information through multiple independent sources. During the investigation, JMANS agents assisted with several controlled purchases of alleged ecstasy, heroin, fentanyl and psilocybin mushrooms.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, the investigation resulted in arrest warrants for Gerald Richardson and Jordyn Bingham. Authorities said each suspect faces eight felony charges, including a Class X felony for delivery of a controlled substance.
On Tuesday, July 14, Wilmington police located both suspects and took them into custody on the outstanding warrants. They were later transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Police have not released additional details regarding the quantities of drugs allegedly involved or the specific circumstances surrounding the investigation.
The Wilmington Police Department said the investigation was conducted with assistance from the Joliet Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad and remains part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking in the area.
The charges against Richardson and Bingham are allegations. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
