Burlington, VT – An unusual weather pattern is expected to place northern New England among the warmest regions in the country Tuesday, with temperatures in Vermont climbing into the mid-90s while many Southern states remain comparatively cooler.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, a relatively uncommon setup will bring the highest daytime temperatures across the northern tier of the United States on Tuesday, July 14. Burlington is forecast to reach around 95 degrees, placing it among the warmest locations nationwide.

The National Weather Service’s national temperature forecast shows much of northern New England, including Vermont, warming into the mid-90s. Meanwhile, portions of the Southeast are expected to remain in the upper 80s or lower 90s, a reversal of the more typical midsummer temperature pattern.

The heat is expected to extend across much of the Northeast and Upper Midwest, with cities including Boston, Buffalo, Detroit, Green Bay, and Marquette also forecast to experience well above-average temperatures.

Residents planning to spend time outdoors Tuesday should take precautions against heat-related illness by staying hydrated, wearing lightweight clothing, limiting strenuous afternoon activities, and checking on older adults, children, and those without reliable air conditioning.

While the heat is expected to be the primary weather story, forecasters encourage residents to continue monitoring local forecasts for any updates as conditions evolve.
