Las Vegas, Nevada The desert sun is wasting no time today. Pavement is already warming, dry air is building, and another stretch of dangerous triple-digit heat is settling across the Las Vegas Valley before isolated monsoon thunderstorms begin returning later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will climb to 105°F today, then increase to 106°F Tuesday before peaking near 109°F Wednesday. A 20% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms develops during the afternoon today, with additional storm chances returning later this week.

While many neighborhoods will stay dry, any thunderstorm that forms could produce sudden wind gusts, lightning, and brief pockets of blowing dust. Drivers along Interstate 15, Interstate 515, U.S. 95, and the Las Vegas Beltway should be prepared for rapidly changing visibility if storms develop nearby.

The bigger concern remains the prolonged heat. Afternoon temperatures well above 100 degrees significantly increase the risk of heat-related illness, especially for outdoor workers, hikers, and visitors spending long periods outside. Drink water frequently, take breaks in air-conditioned locations, and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest hours of the afternoon.

By Wednesday, isolated thunderstorms become possible again during the afternoon while temperatures remain near 109°F. Thursday stays very hot with a high around 108°F and another chance of thunderstorms. Across much of the Intermountain West, above-normal temperatures continue while monsoon moisture gradually expands, supporting isolated afternoon storms in parts of Nevada.
