Indianapolis, IN – Indianapolis homicide detectives have arrested two men in separate murder investigations, including one suspect captured in Ohio after authorities say he was tracked across state lines.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), 22-year-old Christopher Exilhomme was arrested in Ohio on Monday, July 6, 2026, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and Ohio law enforcement. Investigators allege Exilhomme was responsible for the April homicide of 22-year-old Samuel Toussaint.

Police said detectives identified Exilhomme as the alleged shooter early in the investigation and spent several weeks locating and tracking him before his arrest.

In a separate case, IMPD said 21-year-old Darious Averitte was arrested on Friday, June 26, 2026, for his alleged role in the May 5 homicide of 26-year-old Izaak Garcia.

According to investigators, detectives determined Averitte was the alleged murder suspect despite him also being wounded during the incident. After consulting with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, a murder warrant was issued, and Averitte was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service.

IMPD said the arrests reflect weeks of investigative work involving local, state, and federal law enforcement partners.

Authorities emphasized that an arrest and criminal charge are allegations, and both Exilhomme and Averitte are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Additional information about the homicide investigations has not been released.
