Detroit, Michigan – 30°F overnight lows are causing patchy frost and chilly early Sunday conditions, impacting outdoor plants and early travel across southeast Michigan.

Cool air remains in place today, with highs only reaching 38°F to 43°F under mostly sunny skies. While daytime travel remains unaffected, the cold start and lingering chill may impact outdoor activities across Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, and Pontiac.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, temperatures will drop into the low 30s overnight, creating conditions favorable for frost development, especially in suburban and rural areas away from the urban core. Sensitive vegetation may be at risk if left unprotected.

Conditions improve steadily Sunday, with highs climbing into the mid-50s under partly sunny skies and light southwest winds. By Monday, temperatures will reach the low to mid-60s, marking a noticeable shift toward milder spring conditions across southeast Michigan.

Travel impacts remain minimal overall, but early morning drivers Sunday should watch for isolated slick spots on bridges and untreated surfaces where temperatures briefly dip near freezing.

Residents are encouraged to protect sensitive plants overnight and prepare for fluctuating temperatures through the weekend.

The warming trend will continue into early next week, with dry conditions persisting before any potential pattern changes later in the week.
