Austin, Texas – 56°F to 63°F highs and patchy drizzle are slowing travel through midday Saturday, especially across the Hill Country and along the I-35 corridor.

Cooler air has settled into South Central Texas this morning, with overcast skies and areas of light rain or drizzle affecting parts of the Hill Country, southern Edwards Plateau, and areas near the Rio Grande. Roads may become slick through late morning, particularly on elevated surfaces and rural routes around Austin, San Antonio, and Fredericksburg.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, rain chances will taper off by around noon as cloud cover gradually breaks from west to east. Winds will also ease through the afternoon, allowing conditions to improve for travel and outdoor activity later in the day.

High temperatures will remain below normal today, ranging from the mid-50s north of Austin to the upper 60s and low 70s toward San Antonio and the Coastal Plains. Cities along I-35, including New Braunfels and San Marcos, will see gradual clearing by late afternoon.

Drivers should use caution during the morning hours when visibility may be reduced and roads damp, especially along I-35, U.S. 290, and rural Hill Country routes.

A rapid warm-up begins Sunday and continues into early next week, with highs climbing into the 80s and even low 90s by Monday and Tuesday. Rain and thunderstorm chances are expected to return by mid to late week, potentially impacting commutes and outdoor plans.
