Davenport, Iowa – Residents across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois can expect another stretch of comfortable late-June weather this week, with temperatures remaining below normal and only periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms interrupting the dry pattern.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, cooler-than-average conditions will persist through much of the workweek. Overnight temperatures tonight are expected to fall between 52 and 57 degrees under partly cloudy to mostly clear skies, providing a refreshing break from the intense heat affecting parts of the South and East Coast.

Tuesday will remain dry with highs ranging from 76 to 80 degrees across the Quad Cities region, including Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline and surrounding communities. Similar temperatures are expected Thursday and Friday, keeping much of the area comfortably below typical late-June readings.

Rain chances increase Wednesday as scattered showers and thunderstorms develop across portions of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. High temperatures Wednesday are forecast between 78 and 82 degrees, with storm coverage expected to remain scattered rather than widespread.

Another opportunity for rain arrives Friday, with the greatest chance for showers and thunderstorms focused mainly south of Interstate 80. Areas closer to Burlington, Galesburg and southern sections of the forecast area could see the highest coverage.
