South Bend, Indiana – Anyone heading to the Lake Michigan shoreline this evening should use extreme caution as dangerous swimming conditions continue along southern Lake Michigan beaches, where strong currents and hazardous waves remain a threat through tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, a high swim risk remains in effect for beaches along the southern Lake Michigan shoreline. Lifeguards and posted warning flags should be followed closely, as rip currents and powerful waves can quickly pull swimmers into deeper water.
Away from the lakeshore, much of northern Indiana will experience quiet weather through Tuesday. Partly cloudy skies tonight will give way to mostly sunny conditions Tuesday, with afternoon temperatures reaching 70 to 76 degrees. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the lower to middle 50s, providing comfortable sleeping weather across the region.
Clouds will begin increasing Tuesday night ahead of the next weather system. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop late Wednesday, with additional scattered storms possible through Thursday. Forecast highs will range from 77 to 80 degrees Wednesday and 75 to 82 degrees Thursday.
While severe thunderstorms are not currently expected, periods of lightning and locally heavy rainfall may affect travel and outdoor activities during the second half of the week.
