Hanford, Calif. – The morning air still feels comfortable across the Central Valley, but the heat is already lining up for a rapid takeover. By Tuesday afternoon, thermometers in Hanford are expected to hit the century mark as a significant early-summer warmup settles over inland California.
According to the National Weather Service, sunny skies will dominate the region through at least Wednesday. High temperatures climb from around 92 degrees Sunday to 97 degrees Monday before reaching 100 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight lows will remain in the 60s, offering only limited cooling after sunset.
The warming trend arrives as much of the western United States experiences above-normal temperatures. Across California’s interior valleys, strong sunshine and dry air will continue to drive temperatures higher through the first half of the week.
Drivers along Highway 198, Highway 43, and State Route 41 should expect excellent visibility and dry roads. The primary concern will be heat exposure, especially during the afternoon commute when pavement temperatures can become significantly hotter than air temperatures.
Residents planning outdoor work, sports, gardening, or recreation should schedule strenuous activities during the morning hours whenever possible. Drink water frequently and take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. Vehicle interiors can become dangerous within minutes during triple-digit weather.
Meteorologists continue tracking severe storms, flash flooding, large hail, and isolated tornado threats across parts of the Plains and Midwest. Hanford, however, remains under a stable pattern with no meaningful rain chances through midweek.
Looking farther ahead, temperatures remain well above average into late June. Long-range outlooks favor continued summer warmth across California’s Central Valley.
