Little Rock, Arkansas – Arkansas residents will get a break from the recent stretch of warmer weather as cooler air settles across the state Monday, bringing some of the lowest overnight temperatures seen in days by early Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, afternoon highs Monday will generally range from the upper 70s to mid-80s statewide, several degrees cooler than temperatures experienced over the weekend. Northern Arkansas communities including Fayetteville, Harrison, Mountain View and Hardy are expected to remain in the upper 70s, while central and southern locations such as Little Rock, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, El Dorado and Texarkana reach the lower to middle 80s.

The bigger change arrives overnight. Forecast lows by Tuesday morning are expected to fall into the upper 50s across much of northern Arkansas, including Fayetteville at 59 degrees and Harrison near 58 degrees. Central Arkansas cities such as Little Rock and Russellville are forecast to drop into the mid-60s, while southern Arkansas remains slightly milder in the upper 60s.

The cooler temperatures will provide relief for outdoor workers, athletes and anyone spending time outside after several warmer days across the region. Energy demand may also ease overnight as air conditioning use decreases.

Drivers should not expect any widespread weather-related travel issues, with dry conditions dominating much of the state. The cooler pattern remains in place into Tuesday before temperatures gradually begin climbing again later this week as Arkansas transitions back toward more typical June warmth.
