Will County, IL: Shooting Investigation Underway After 13-Year-Old Critically Hurt Inside Home

Joliet, IL – A 13-year-old boy remains in critical condition after a shooting Monday afternoon inside a residence in Joliet, according to local police.

According to the Joliet Police Department, officers responded around 4:53 p.m. Monday, May 18, to the 400 block of Market Street for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they located the teen male victim inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound to the left shoulder.

Police said officers immediately rendered medical aid until Joliet Fire Department paramedics arrived on scene. The victim was transported to Saint Joseph Medical Center in critical condition before later being airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood for additional treatment.

Investigators said preliminary findings indicate the shooting occurred inside the residence, though details surrounding the events leading up to the incident remain under investigation.

Detectives and officers canvassed the area following the shooting, according to police. No arrests had been announced as of Tuesday morning, and authorities said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
