Minneapolis, MN – A stretch of warm and mostly sunny weather is expected across the Twin Cities through Friday before showers and thunderstorms return to Minnesota during the weekend and early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will bring sunny skies and comfortable spring temperatures with highs near 74 degrees across Minneapolis and St. Paul. Winds will remain relatively light during the day, creating favorable conditions for outdoor activities across the metro area.

Forecasters say temperatures continue climbing Thursday with highs approaching 79 degrees. However, increasing humidity and breezy south winds could fuel scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Wind gusts may reach up to 30 mph during stronger storms.

Additional scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible Thursday night before skies gradually clear into Friday morning. Friday is expected to be the warmest and sunniest day of the workweek, with highs reaching near 84 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

Rain and thunderstorm chances increase again Saturday night through Sunday as another system moves into the Upper Midwest. Sunday could bring periods of heavier rain and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening hours, with highs near 80 degrees.

Unsettled weather may continue into Monday before slightly cooler temperatures return by Tuesday across much of central Minnesota.
