Philadelphia, PA – A round of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move across the Mid-Atlantic on Wednesday, May 13, bringing steady rainfall and the potential for locally heavier downpours through early Friday, May 15.
According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, a cold front will push through the region Wednesday, triggering widespread showers and thunderstorms from Pennsylvania and New Jersey south through Maryland and Delaware.
Rainfall totals are expected to range from 0.1 to 0.75 inches across much of the region, with locally higher amounts exceeding 1 inch possible in areas that see stronger thunderstorms.
While the rainfall may be steady at times, widespread flooding is not expected. However, small rivers and streams may see gradual rises later this week, particularly in low-lying or flood-prone areas.
Forecasters emphasize that river levels across the region are expected to remain below flood stage, despite the additional rainfall.
The wet pattern could impact midweek travel, especially during periods of heavier rain on Wednesday and Thursday. Drivers should watch for slick roads and reduced visibility during downpours.
By Friday, May 15, conditions are expected to improve as the system moves out of the region, allowing for drier weather to return.
Residents across the Mid-Atlantic are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and remain aware of changing conditions, especially during thunderstorms.
