Tennessee wakes up to a crisp, quiet morning, but subtle changes in the sky signal a steady shift toward warmer, more active spring weather.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures rise from near 70 today to around 80 by Monday across Nashville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, and Hendersonville, with increasing sunshine through the weekend.

This is part of a broader system pushing east, allowing warmer air to expand across the Southeast while cooler air lingers farther north.

Clouds will thicken at times today, but dry conditions dominate. By late afternoon, expect brighter skies and a mild feel, especially along I-40 and I-24 corridors where traffic flows remain mostly unaffected.

The bigger shift arrives early next week. Winds increase Monday afternoon, with gusts near 20 mph that could push vehicles on open roadways and scatter unsecured outdoor items. Temperatures peak between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., creating a warm, almost early-summer feel.

By Tuesday, moisture returns. A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after 1 p.m., especially near low-lying roads and flood-prone intersections in downtown Nashville and along the Cumberland River. Brief heavy rain could reduce visibility and create slick pavement within minutes.

Severe storms are not guaranteed, but isolated thunder remains possible as instability builds.

Five-day outlook:
Saturday: Mostly sunny, high 68
Sunday: Sunny, high 71
Monday: Mostly sunny, high 80, breezy
Tuesday: Storms possible, high 75
Wednesday: Continued storm chances, high mid-70s
