Houston, Texas – Heat is building quickly across Southeast Texas this morning, with temperatures and humidity combining to push heat index values into the upper 90s to near 102 degrees by this afternoon, increasing the risk of heat-related illness during peak hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, a moderate HeatRisk will persist through at least Wednesday, with daytime highs ranging from 87 to 94 degrees and overnight lows holding between 69 and 75 degrees. The limited overnight cooling will compound daytime stress, especially for those without reliable air conditioning.

The hottest conditions will impact Houston, Sugar Land, Conroe, Baytown, and Galveston, with widespread highs near 90 to 92 degrees Monday. Heat index values are expected to peak between 92 and 102 degrees, particularly along the I-45 corridor and densely populated urban areas where heat retention is strongest.

Isolated thunderstorms may develop north of Houston Monday afternoon, including areas near Huntsville and Livingston, but coverage remains limited and will not significantly reduce the heat.

Residents should avoid prolonged outdoor activity between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., stay hydrated, and wear lightweight clothing. Check on vulnerable populations, including the elderly, children, and pets, as heat stress can develop rapidly.

This early-season heat pattern continues through Wednesday evening, with additional updates expected if heat advisories become necessary.
